How we're using Github Discussions

This Github Discussions board is a place for the BotC app developers to share linkable answers to frequently asked questions, or information that we hope will be useful to the community as a whole.

This is an experiment, there aren't hard boundaries around what we're planning on posting here. But for some example of what we're planning (and not planning) to do:

Things we will use this board for

• Summaries of ongoing and regular issues that the app is experiencing

  TPI have multiple channels where people can learn about any ongoing issues with the app. For issues that update over time, there isn't currently a great way for us to share those changes without blasting them through multiple notification channels - and this is unnecessarily noisy for most updates.

  By having a centralised place to share app development information, we can be responsive without being distracting.

• Answers to frequently asked support questions about paid subscriptions.

  While we offer support to Patreon backers through the Patreon platform, enough questions are asked about the app's integration that it's useful for us to have a publicly linkable resource about it.

Things we aren't planning on using this board for

• Game rule clarifications

  This discussion board is run by the app developers, and rule clarifications will be published elsewhere.

• App tutorials and guides

  While we do want to add tutorials and guides to the app, this is not the place we're going to do that. People who need tutorials need them to be more immediately visible.

• An actual discussion forum

  Although Github Discussions works well as a forum, community chat is better supported by our presence on the Official Patreon Discord (for paid supporters) and the Unofficial Discord (for broader conversation). We're not planning on opening up another interactive channel that we would have to moderate.
