Stuck in Vertex AI Redirect Loop on Free Trial Account - Cannot Access ConsoleStuck in Vertex AI Red

Hello everyone,

I’m facing a very persistent and unusual issue with my Google Cloud account and hope someone here might have some insights.

The Situation:

  1. I signed up for the Google Cloud $300 Free Trial.
  2. I created my own project (mycare-ai-459606). Crucially, I did NOT receive or use any invitation link.
  3. Ever since, whenever I try to access https://console.cloud.google.com/, I am immediately and constantly redirected to the Vertex AI Studio page.
  4. The URL always includes inv=1&invt=… parameters (e.g., …&invt=AbyOgg), and the invt value changes on almost every attempt.
  5. The most confusing part: I managed to access Cloud Shell and successfully deleted the project (mycare-ai-459606), but the redirect still happens even now, pointing to Vertex AI Studio with changing invt parameters!

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

I have already tried the following without success:

  • Using multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox).
  • Using Incognito/Private mode extensively.
  • Clearing all browser cache and cookies (multiple times).
  • Disabling ALL browser extensions.
  • Trying to access direct links (Dashboard, Billing, IAM) - all redirect.
  • Trying to “follow” the flow in Vertex AI Studio (but there are no clear “Next” or “Finish” buttons).
  • Deleting the only project I had.

My Hypothesis:

It seems my account is stuck in some kind of mandatory “Onboarding Flow” linked to the Free Trial, forcing me towards Vertex AI. However, this flow appears to be broken or has no exit, preventing me from accessing any other part of the Google Cloud Console.

My Question:

Has anyone experienced this specific redirect loop, especially after deleting the project and without an initial invitation? Is there any known way to break this loop or reset my account’s “onboarding state” so I can regain access to the main Google Cloud Console?

Any help, suggestions, or insights would be deeply appreciated, as I am currently completely blocked from managing my GCP account via the web UI.

Thanks a lot for sharing your detailed explanation. I just wanted to say that I’m experiencing exactly the same issue with my Google Cloud account.

  • I also joined via the $300 Free Trial (without any invitation link),

  • I created a project and ended up being stuck in Vertex AI Studio,

  • No matter what I do, incognito mode, clearing cookies, switching browsers, even deleting the project. I’m always redirected to Vertex AI Studio with the inv=1&invt=… parameters changing every time,

  • I can’t access the main Google Cloud Console, Billing, IAM, or even create a new project.

It seems like my account is also locked in this broken onboarding loop.

If you found a solution or if someone from Google Support helped you resolve it, I would really appreciate it if you could share the steps here.

I am adding my case to this thread as I am experiencing the exact same issue in late September 2025. My new Free Trial account (Project ID: (PII Removed by Staff) ) is also stuck in a permanent redirect loop to the Vertex AI Studio page.

I saw the recommendation to contact Google Cloud Support. Unfortunately, this is not possible. When I try to file a case, the system says, “You don’t have permission to file tech-related support cases,” because I am on the Free Trial. This creates a catch-22 where I cannot report the issue.

To provide technical proof of the problem, I ran a diagnostic command in Cloud Shell. The result confirms that the stuck onboarding is also preventing backend permissions from activating:

Command: gcloud ai models list --region=us-central1 Result: Listed 0 items.

Since the standard support channel is blocked for affected free trial users, could a community manager please escalate this issue internally to the engineering team? It appears to be a recurring bug in the new user onboarding flow.

Thank you for your help in consolidating my posts. I am replying to provide a critical update on the timeline of this issue.

It has now been one full week since we enabled the Vertex AI API for this project. The service activation for my project has been stuck since last Friday.

This is far beyond the standard 72-hour propagation window. The definitive diagnostic command, gcloud ai models list --region=us-central1, still returns Listed 0 items., which confirms my project is completely blocked from using any Vertex AI services.

As a new Free Trial user, I remain in a catch-22 where I cannot file a direct technical support case. Given that an entire week has passed, could you please help me urgently escalate this issue to the engineering team for a manual review and activation?

My Project ID is: (PII Removed by Staff)

Your help in getting this escalated is my only path to a solution. I appreciate your assistance.
