How can i stop failing at making games?

Hello, i’ve made 100s of projects over last 7 years, and in this year, i’ve made progress - i can make a game for 3-4 weeks before burning out, i’ve made dev forum tutorials you might’ve seen, i’ve learned plenty of people coding and made about 20 projects that were further than anything i saw, but, all failed…

My question is, even if i know why they fail, why do i still fail? i know it’s the complex motivational problem where i don’t have this dream game, and i like to make games for players to play them, but because i don’t have any real feedback or other goal than make others have fun, i’ll fail at game dev after burning out initial motivation, and maybe i’ll regain it, maybe i’ll use discipline, but they’ll also burn out sooner or later

If you’ve finished game and was successfull, how have you managed to finish it? i know how to code, i can make assets, i like development, but still, how you’ve managed to stay motivated and with a goal, that you never abbandon the game?

What I do is tell people my dreams about the game that I want to come true. If yo find people who are interested in development or just playing games, they will most likely support you, giving you a mini audience. For me, this audience helps give me ideas, and helps me set deadlines for when I can get things done. Of course, you can be flexible with this, but not to flexible, because that leads to laziness and burnout. If you really want to make a game, then think of it as a game and not a chore, or it will never get done. That’s all from me, thanks!

thx for advice, tho i’ve made community and did it, only result was that community is burned out and loosed hopes and every time i try to find this audience, all people i know just thinks this is another failed game, idk if there’s a way without a community, yk to not abbandon the game, still thx for feedback i’ll definitively try it

TLDR: prototyping

It’s really simple. It’s all about getting the game out as fast as possible. Unlike what other people say, it’s a good thing when u focus on just finishing the mechanics despite having unfinished animations, missing sounds, textures or models relating to that part of the game because you can always add it later. Knowing that your mechanics work well together is a really big factor in finishing a game, because as long as it exists it can be improved later on.

I’ve tried prototyping, tho yesterday i though about trying using MVPs instead of prototypes, should this help me finish games?

well, they’re the same thing really lol

Thomas Edison failed to make the lightbulb 1000 times

I mean MVPs are games, prototypes are just mechanics, also i think i’ve discovered perfection in making games, like i’ve stopped myself from doing something because it “would be bad” or “players wouldn’t like it” forgetting that making games should be fun, and otherwise there wouldn’t really be this sense of making games
