This neurostructural technique designed by Michael Nixon-Levy is widely used in Europe. It uses Bowen moves (based on the work of Tom Bowen) to remove pain and dysfunctional physiological and psychological conditions. It restores the structural integrity of the body. When we restore that structural integrity, the body can relax and heal itself. It is like rebooting the whole body, and that impacts all the organs, the lymphatic system, the nervous system and emotional well-being.
NST, whilst designed to release physical pain, has also been shown to relieve headaches, migraines, clicking jaw, vestibular migraines, and symptoms from anxiety and hypervigilance. As it releases tension from the whole body, it is like hitting a reset button. Many clients just love to come for a quick body reset and walk away feeling calm and relaxed all over!
Christie often combines this technique with kinesiology, myofascial and trigger point assessments and therapies to create a deep relief from pain, tension and tightness in the body.
What To Expect In A Session
with Christie
All sessions with Christie look at the core issues of your problem in an integrative way. Each modality also has its own process, yet Christie integrates the many disciplines to help create and balance connections between mind, body and spirit, so that healing can occur at many levels. The consequent insights and understandings that the client gains produce long lasting results
This therapy is almost magical in its ability to release sore and tight muscles.
If you have come with a purely physical, structural issue then an NST session will consist of a physical assessment to check which areas are impacted, monitoring range of motion, pain, tension and tightness. Then we will work on the whole body with a series of bowen type moves and rests, focussing on the main areas of concern, until you get a release from pain, tightness and tension. A follow up session is often required to prevent the body from going back to it’s familiar patterns, but rarely would you require more than three sessions.
