Brakes
The mechanism used to slow down or stop the bicycle. Includes components like levers, pads, rotors, or drums, depending on the brake system type.
Wheels
Comprising the hub, spokes, and rim, wheels are the circular frames that hold the tires. They vary in size and construction based on the bicycle's intended use.
Handlebars
The steering mechanism for bicycles, offering various grip positions. Shape and width vary depending on the bicycle type and rider preference.
Cranksets
The component that converts the reciprocating motion of the rider's legs into rotational motion to drive the chain and wheels. Consists of one or more chainrings, crank arms, and sometimes the bottom bracket.
Tires
The outer part of the wheel that makes contact with the ground. Comes in different widths, treads, and compositions for various terrains and performance needs.
Saddles
The seat of the bicycle, designed for rider comfort and efficiency. Varies in shapes and materials to suit different riding positions and disciplines.
Pedals
The platform or mechanism attached to the crank arm where the rider places their feet to propel the bicycle. Available in various styles for different riding preferences.
Headsets
Connects the bicycle's fork to the frame, enabling smooth steering. Includes bearings and components for attaching the fork, stem, and handlebars.
Front Derailleurs
Front derailleurs move the chain between the front gears (chainrings) of a bike, letting you adjust how hard or easy it is to pedal.
Cassettes
A cassette is a set of stacked gears located on the rear wheel hub, providing a range of gear ratios for the chain to engage with, affecting speed and pedaling effort.
Chains
The chain transfers power from the crankset to the wheel through the cassette, enabling the bicycle to move forward when pedaled.
Brifters
Also called integrated brake shifters or dual control levers. Brifters, a blend of "brake" and "shifters," are integrated controls on road bikes that enable gear shifting and braking from the same position on the handlebars, enhancing efficiency and safety.
Rear Derailleurs
Rear derailleurs are the bike parts that shift the chain between gears at the back wheel, helping you pedal easier or faster.
Shifters
Shifters are levers or buttons on a bike that let you change gears, helping you adjust your pedaling effort as you ride uphill, downhill, or on flat roads.
Seat Posts
The bar connecting the saddle to the seat tube of your bike frame.
Internal Gear Hubs
An alternative to the rear derailleur, this component is enclosed within the hub of the rear wheel. Known for seamless gear changes at a standstill, making it ideal for urban cycling and utility bikes where frequent stops and starts are common.
Forks
The part of the bicycle on which the front wheel is mounted and which is turned via handlebars in order to steer the bicycle.
