Unable to login to the Ubuntu Wiki using OpenID

Bug Description

Hi,

I recently cancelled my Launchpad accound but have now revived it:

https://launchpad.net/~andrew.46

However I am unable to log onto the Ubuntu Wiki as andrew.46 and continue editing wiki pages as OpenID fails with the following message:

The username you have chosen is already taken. If it is your username, enter your password below to associate the username with your OpenID. Otherwise, please choose a different username and leave the password field blank.
+-------------

I have entered my OpenID password without success and any combination of passwords that may have been my old wiki passwords also without success.

I would be grateful if somebody could suggest a way of rectifying this problem which I suspect I have brought upon myself by injudiciously closing and then reopening my account :).

I've made a change which should allow you to login to the Ubuntu wiki.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this problem. I still cannot login, with the same error message, should I wait a while?

I suspect that your browser is using cached credentials. You will need to logout of the wiki and log back in again. If the problem still persists, then clearing the cookies for wiki.ubuntu.com might be the more brute force method to resolve this issue.

I have emptied the browser cache as you have suggested,unfortunately I cannot logout and then login as I am unable to initially login as andrew.46. Unfortunately the results are the same and I remain unable to login with the same error message. I have also tried a range of computers and browsers that have not contacted this site before, all with empty caches...

I am more than willing to send you my OpenID username and password by private email if you need this to test this logon yourself?

Still unable to successfully login as andrew.46 unfortunately despite Launchpad Login Service stating that I had successfully authenticated on 2010-08-27. Is there anything else I can do from my end?

The error remains which I will admit is a great source of frustration to me as I have work I would like to continue on the wiki pages under my original name of andrew.46. Is it possible to have another look at this problem?

You are not the only one with this issue. I've bugged the sysadmins about it repeatedly, and their answer is that all openID-related wiki login issues should be fixed as soon as they upgrade the wiki. I'm not sure exactly when they're going to do that though. In theory, it should be pretty soon since Ubuntu 11.04 is out and the admins should have more time now.

Very frustrating, I have had to login under several different aliases to get my wiki in shape for my Ubuntu Membership application. Looking forward to this issue being resolved and I am of course ready to test any solutions...
