While rambunctiousness may never disappear, Schutzman is working to make the buses quieter, healthier, more sustainable, and cheaper as COO of Highland Electric Fleets. The Beverly, Massachusetts–based company was founded with a mission—to make clean, affordable electric school buses accessible to communities while reducing costs and fossil fuel use. Named to Time’s list of the 100 most influential companies in 2024, Highland is the largest buyer of electric school buses in the US. Today, it operates 500 buses, with another 700 set to hit the road in 20 states by year’s end. . . . . #HarvardBusinessSchool#HBS#Harvard#BusinessSchool#AlumniNetwork#Leadership#BusinessInnovation#CleanEnergy#Sustainability#CorporateLeadership#BusinessImpact#TechForGood#ClimateAction#AlumniSuccess#GreenerFuture#IvyLeague#TransportationInnovation Highland’s financing model eliminates upfront costs by bundling vehicles, chargers, and maintenance into a fixed annual fee. Its pioneering Vehicle-to-Grid technology turns buses into “batteries on wheels,” helping districts save money while providing power back to the grid. Ultimately, Schutzman believes electric is just a better tech product. “If people saw it for what it was, let alone the environmental benefits and saving money by not going to the gas pump, there are a lot of reasons to make this a part of the fabric of every community.” 📹 : @susanyoungphoto#HBS#HBSAlumni#Innovation#BusinessImpact#Sustainability#HBSForceForGood
