According to Business Standard on July 5th, tech giant Google expanded its News Initiative Training Network in India on Tuesday (July 5th), adding five new languages: Punjabi, Assamese, Gujarati, Odia and Malayalam.

The tech giant stated in a declaration that Google Search Trace Technology will partner with DataLeads to establish a Fact-Checking Academy. Approximately 100 new trainers were hired to help newsrooms and journalists improve their ability to combat climate misinformation and verify misleading data and claims containing false figures.

Google launched the "News Initiative India Training Network" campaign in 2018 in collaboration with DataLeads. The network, powered by Google Search Trace Technology, has attracted over 39,000 journalists, media educators, fact-checkers and journalism students from more than 2,300 newsrooms and media colleges, using at least 10 languages.

The network aims to help journalists and newsroom personnel master digital tools like Google Search Trace Technology to verify and handle online misinformation.
