Why Choose "The Bad Kids"?
Producer Bai Jin stated: "In our industry, 'content is king'. A story that has been proven successful in a market of 1.4 billion people, I don't need to worry about any flaws."

The Art of Localization
The Japanese version changed the setting from a Chinese border town to Okinawa: "Due to the US military base issue, Okinawa's social environment is special and more tense than other parts of Japan."
Bai Jin used "Chinese dumplings" and "Japanese gyoza" as metaphors for adaptation differences: "We can't taste gyoza with the mindset of eating Chinese dumplings, because each has its own flavor."
Bai Jin pointed out: "Chinese and Japanese cultures are interconnected with a long history of exchange. While audiences may struggle to distinguish between dukes and counts in European films, they easily accept stories like 'The Great Edo' or 'Empresses in the Palace'."
In recent years, Chinese period dramas like "Nirvana in Fire", "Empresses in the Palace" and "The Untamed" have formed a "Chinese Wave" phenomenon in Japan. Chinese games and animations like "Genshin Impact" and "Non-Human" are also very popular among Japanese youth.
Gifted Child or Troubled Teen?
The film explores cross-border issues like growth, education and family influence: "Talent can be used for good or evil. It depends on how society and family guide a child's development."
Director Kaneko hopes audiences will contemplate minors' futures after experiencing the suspense: "China and Japan face many common social issues."
