Continuing our WordPress site building tutorial series. Recently, while working on a WordPress project, I encountered a frustrating issue: backend lag, especially noticeable when editing pages or writing articles. As shown in the image, when creating a new article, the editor took about one minute to load properly. I tried disabling Google Fonts and the Gutenberg editor, but the problem persisted.
起初，我以为是谷歌字体的问题，但禁用后并无改善。通过逐一排查，最终发现可能是页面编辑器导致的。该网站使用的是Salient主题，这款主题在ThemeForest上销量很高，广受欢迎，其配套的页面编辑器是WPBakery Page Builder。使用WPBakery Page Builder后，WordPress后台在操作页面或编写文章时会默认加载该编辑器，而它加载的资源非常多，这可能是导致卡顿的主要原因。
Initially, I suspected Google Fonts, but disabling them didn't help. Through step-by-step troubleshooting, I identified the page editor as the likely culprit. The site uses the Salient theme, which is highly popular on ThemeForest, and comes with WPBakery Page Builder as its default editor. After activating WPBakery Page Builder, the WordPress backend loads this editor by default for page operations and article writing, consuming significant resources and likely causing the slowdown.
由于该项目必须使用Salient主题（客户选择的外贸建站主题），且该主题基于WPBakery Page Builder开发，我没有找到完美的解决方案，但发现了一个可行的临时方法。进入WordPress后台，打开【WPBakery Page Builder】菜单，选择【Role Manager】，找到【Backend editor】选项，设置为【Disabled】以禁用后端编辑器。这样，在编写文章时就不会再卡顿了。
Since the project required the Salient theme (client-chosen for foreign trade site building) and it's built on WPBakery Page Builder, I didn't find a perfect fix but discovered a workable temporary solution. Navigate to the WordPress backend, open the 【WPBakery Page Builder】 menu, select 【Role Manager】, locate the 【Backend editor】 option, and set it to 【Disabled】 to deactivate the backend editor. This eliminates lag when writing articles.
然而，禁用后端编辑器后，您将无法编辑由WPBakery Page Builder创建的页面（如首页等）。因此，建议在网站完全建成后再关闭【Backend editor】。如需再次编辑页面，只需重新启用【Backend editor】即可。结合使用专业的谷歌SEO工具，您可以进一步优化网站，确保其在搜索引擎中表现优异。
However, after disabling the backend editor, you won't be able to edit pages created with WPBakery Page Builder (such as the homepage). Thus, it's recommended to disable 【Backend editor】 only after the site is fully built. If you need to edit pages again, simply re-enable 【Backend editor】.
