Kenya's Horticultural Exports Drop 40% in First Half

Due to reduced flower revenue and avocado production decline, Kenya's horticultural export income decreased by 32 billion Kenyan shillings (about 263 million euros) year-on-year in the first half of 2022. Flower revenue dropped from 53.2 billion to 37.3 billion shillings, while avocado production fell from 82.1 million kg to 44 million kg.

Peat usage in UK horticulture continues to decline, with retail sector decreasing from 35.5% in 2020 to 29.8% in 2021, and commercial growers reducing from 62.3% to 51.7%. HTA chairman announced plans to completely phase out peat in retail compost by 2025.
