Fuzhou News Network Report - Professor Asif Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of the University of Newcastle, Australia, recently concluded his working visit to Fuzhou, bringing precious jasmine tea back to Australia. This descendant of Persian merchants shares a profound historical connection with Fuzhou's jasmine tea.

"这是最正宗的茉莉花茶"，阿西夫在品茶时说道。他熟练的泡茶技艺和对茉莉花茶历史的了解令人印象深刻。

"This is the most authentic jasmine tea", Asif said while tasting the tea. His skilled tea brewing techniques and deep understanding of jasmine tea history were impressive.

A Multilingual Descendant of Persia

阿西夫能流利使用伊朗、巴基斯坦、泰国和英国四国语言。他出生于伊朗，在巴基斯坦获得首个商科学位，后在泰国和英国工作学习，最终定居澳大利亚。

Asif is fluent in four languages: Iranian, Pakistani, Thai and English. Born in Iran, he earned his first business degree in Pakistan, then worked and studied in Thailand and the UK before settling in Australia.

作为纽卡斯尔大学副校长，阿西夫在澳大利亚高等教育领域成就斐然。纽卡斯尔大学在2023年泰晤士高等教育年轻大学排名中位列全球第一。

As Vice Chancellor of the University of Newcastle, Asif has achieved remarkable success in Australian higher education. The university ranked first in the 2023 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.

A Thousand-Year Jasmine Tea Connection

阿西夫的祖先在唐代通过海上丝绸之路将茉莉花传入福州。据史料记载，茉莉花原产于古罗马，经波斯传入中国，最终在福州与本地绿茶结合，创造了茉莉花茶的千年传奇。

Asif's ancestors brought jasmine flowers to Fuzhou via the Maritime Silk Road during the Tang Dynasty. Historical records show that jasmine originated in ancient Rome, was introduced to China through Persia, and eventually combined with local green tea in Fuzhou, creating the thousand-year legend of jasmine tea.

"茉莉花茶是非常健康的饮品，应当推广到全世界。"阿西夫表示。他计划将茉莉花茶工艺引入大学课程，让更多人受益。

"Jasmine tea is a very healthy drink that should be promoted worldwide," Asif said. He plans to introduce jasmine tea craftsmanship into university courses to benefit more people.

教育合作新篇章

New Chapter in Educational Cooperation

阿西夫此次带来了创新的"2+2"本科分段式教学项目，与华南女子学院合作培养国际商务人才。该项目可让学生在福州完成部分课程后，赴澳大利亚继续深造。

Asif brought an innovative "2+2" undergraduate program, collaborating with Hwa Nan Women's College to cultivate international business talents. This program allows students to complete part of their studies in Fuzhou before continuing their education in Australia.

为更好参与21世纪海上丝绸之路建设，阿西夫正在努力学习中文，希望成为他掌握的第五种语言。

To better participate in the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiative, Asif is diligently learning Chinese, hoping to make it the fifth language he masters.

阿西夫与记者约定，下次来福州时将拜访茶王、参观茉莉花茶博物馆和万亩茉莉花园，继续探索这段跨越千年的文化情缘。

Asif made an appointment with the reporter to visit tea masters, the Jasmine Tea Museum, and vast jasmine gardens on his next trip to Fuzhou, continuing to explore this thousand-year cultural connection.
