2009年1月1日，以色列军方声称巴勒斯坦向以色列发射的4枚火箭弹是中国制造，射程达40公里，精度远超伊朗同类产品。最令人惊讶的是，这些火箭弹弹体上赫然标有"山东莱阳钢管厂"字样。
On January 1, 2009, the Israeli military claimed that four rockets fired by Palestine into Israel were made in China, with a range of 40km and much higher accuracy than Iranian counterparts. Most surprisingly, the rocket bodies were clearly marked with "Shandong Laiyang Steel Pipe Factory".
莱阳钢管厂随即发表声明：这些钢管原本是出口到中东某国用于煤气管道建设，对如何被改装成武器并不知情。但声明中特别强调："本厂产品质量居世界前列，且价格适中"。

But the statement particularly emphasized: "Our factory's product quality ranks among the world's best, and the price is moderate".
技术解析：哈马斯组织使用无缝钢管作为火箭弹主体，在尾部焊接4个稳定翼，加上爆炸装置和导向仪即可完成。这些建材在加沙地区很容易获得，每枚"火箭弹"成本仅几百元人民币。
