The report, released by Australian cybersecurity firm Internet 2.0, alleges that TikTok collects user data including calendars, contact lists and photos and transmits it to China. The company's CEO Robert Potter even publicly warned: "TikTok is not safe and people should use it with caution."

TikTok quickly responded, pointing out "fundamental misunderstandings" in the report and emphasizing that its servers are located in Singapore with network traffic not leaving the region. The platform stated it has proactively contacted Australian regulators and is prepared to provide more accurate information.
