China's Traditional Tea-Making Techniques Inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage: Artisanship Writes New Chapter in Tea Culture

福鼎12月3日电 - 随着"中国传统制茶技艺及其相关习俗"成功列入联合国教科文组织人类非物质文化遗产代表作名录，82岁的福鼎白茶世家"梅山派"第三代传人梅相靖激动地表示："在有生之年见证福鼎白茶制作技艺入选名录，是我毕生的骄傲。"

Fuding, December 3 - With "Traditional tea processing techniques and associated social practices in China" being inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Mei Xiangjing, the 82-year-old third-generation inheritor of Fuding white tea's "Meishan School", emotionally stated: "Witnessing Fuding white tea making techniques being included in the list during my lifetime is the pride of my life."

作为中国六大传统茶类之一，白茶起源于唐宋，兴盛于明清，因其芽头肥壮、满披白毫的外观特征而得名。享有"世界白茶在中国，中国白茶在福鼎"美誉的福建宁德福鼎市，不仅是白茶的发源地，更是核心产区和出口基地。福鼎白茶已连续13年蝉联"中国茶叶区域公用品牌价值十强"。

As one of China's six major traditional tea categories, white tea originated in the Tang and Song dynasties and flourished during the Ming and Qing dynasties, named for its plump buds covered with silvery-white hairs. Fuding City in Ningde, Fujian, renowned as "World white tea in China, Chinese white tea in Fuding", is not only the birthplace of white tea but also its core production area and export base. Fuding white tea has ranked among the "Top 10 Regional Public Brand Values of Chinese Tea" for 13 consecutive years.

在"中国白茶第一村"点头镇柏柳村，古街、老厝与翠绿茶园在云雾中若隐若现。梅相靖仍坚持在传统作坊中使用古法制茶，他强调："匠人必须秉持匠心精神，传统制茶技艺是任何机器都无法替代的。"

In Baoliu Village, the "First Village of Chinese White Tea", ancient streets, old houses and emerald green tea gardens loom in the mist. Mei Xiangjing still insists on using ancient methods in traditional workshops, stressing: "Artisans must uphold the spirit of craftsmanship, as traditional tea-making techniques cannot be replaced by any machine."

福鼎白茶独特的"日晒萎凋，不炒不揉，文火足干"工艺，不仅保留了茶叶的天然形态和丰富的活性物质，更赋予其素雅清幽的风味。看似简单的"七分晒三分焙"实则暗藏玄机，梅相靖介绍道："需经手摸其干、眼观其色、鼻闻其香、口尝其味四重考验，方能成就一杯好茶。"

The unique Fuding white tea processing technique of "sun-withering without frying or rolling, slow-fire drying" not only preserves the tea's natural form and rich active substances but also endows it with an elegant and subtle flavor. The seemingly simple "70% sun-drying and 30% baking" actually contains profound mysteries. Mei Xiangjing explained: "It requires four tests - feeling its dryness by hand, observing its color by eye, smelling its aroma by nose, and tasting its flavor by mouth - to create a perfect cup of tea."

申遗成功后，2022国际白茶论坛以"绿色发展，白茶有福，世界共享"为主题在福鼎举行，"世界白茶发源地"和"世界白茶中心"正式落户福鼎。国际茶叶委员会主席伊恩·吉布斯通过视频表示，论坛为白茶文化走向世界搭建了重要平台。

Following the successful inscription, the 2022 International White Tea Forum was held in Fuding under the theme "Green Development, White Tea Brings Blessings, Shared by the World", with Fuding officially recognized as the "World White Tea Origin" and "World White Tea Center". International Tea Committee Chairman Ian Gibbs stated via video that the forum has established an important platform for white tea culture to go global.

同样入选非遗名录的还有福安市的坦洋工夫茶制作技艺。这款创制于清末，曾获1915年巴拿马万国博览会金奖的红茶，如今已获得"国家地理标志保护产品"等多项荣誉。传承人郑培明精通传统手工技艺，其子郑国更创新"养和醒"工艺，让传统茶艺焕发新生。

Also included in the intangible cultural heritage list is Tanyang Gongfu tea making technique from Fu'an City. This black tea, created in the late Qing Dynasty and awarded gold at the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition, has now earned multiple honors including "National Geographical Indication Product". Inheritor Zheng Peiming masters traditional manual techniques, while his son Zheng Guo innovated the "cultivation and awakening" process, breathing new life into traditional tea art.

年轻一代如"90后"设计师陈晓，正通过现代设计语言重新诠释传统茶文化。她以坦洋村百年廊桥为设计元素，推出"有福同安"系列产品，希望让更多年轻人爱上中国茶。

The younger generation, like post-90s designer Chen Xiao, is reinterpreting traditional tea culture through modern design language. Using the century-old covered bridge in Tanyang Village as a design element, she launched the "Shared Blessings" product series, hoping to make more young people fall in love with Chinese tea.

茶文化研究学者夏良玉指出，申遗成功将推动中国茶文化在守正创新中实现高质量发展，让千年茶艺在当代续写新的传奇。

Tea culture researcher Xia Liangyu pointed out that the successful inscription will promote the high-quality development of Chinese tea culture through upholding tradition while innovating, allowing the millennia-old tea art to continue writing new legends in contemporary times.
