Memberships are closed indefinitely. There are no plans to reopen them.

I (Tonya) closed the business side of Know the Code LLC to focus all of my energies on contributing to the WordPress open source project.

Closing the business side means the site can no longer generate revenue. The payment gateways are removed. This means there’s no longer a way to purchase a membership, mentorship, or coaching.

Why close the business side?

The business side of running a membership site involves marketing, legal, accounting, taxes, licensing, and government reporting. These activities are time-consuming. By closing the “business side” of Know the Code, the time I was spending on these businessy things is now available for me to focus on helping contributors and the future of WordPress itself.

Short answer: more global impact to help more people, the community, WordPress, and those who build on top of WordPress.

In 2020, I was wrangled to actively join the 5.6 release squad, the All-Women Release Squad, to bring my technical and leadership expertise and savvy to the project. I became hooked on contributing. Seeing the needs in the project for leadership and continuous improvements, I sought out a company that would sponsor me full-time to focus all of my energies contributing to WordPress Core. I joined Automattic in Feb 2021 as they are now sponsoring me.

I closed the business side of Know the Code to free up the time the business was taking in order to invest my whole self into actively contributing to WordPress Core and empowering contributors to grow their impact and expertise in the project. Come join me!

It would not fair to those who purchased a yearly (assuming their membership is still active) or lifetime membership. These folks have paid for access. Openly up all the content devalues their investment.
