The latest version of Infoscava, v2.1.9, introduces important improvements and refinements to its already powerful file analysis capabilities. Infoscava remains a reliable and standalone desktop application designed for structured and unstructured file inspection across a wide range of formats.
Whatβs New in v2.1.9
This release includes enhancements that improve both functionality and user experience:
- An additional search tab has been added with multi-match highlighting, match navigation, and live result updates for faster and more accurate data access.
- A user interface bug has been fixed, resolving an issue where the Light (White) Theme was not properly applied to the QTreeView file browser.
Core Capabilities
Infoscava continues to provide a comprehensive set of features for file analysis, including:
- Metadata extraction, hash generation, Base64 view, text/hex view, EXIF and GPS data (for images), entropy measurements, and byte histograms.
- A tabbed user interface with drag-and-drop support, an integrated file browser, keyboard shortcuts, and theme toggling.
- File watcher for automatic reloads when files are updated on disk.
- Export options for analysis reports in JSON, TXT, and HTML formats.
- Plugin system with support for dynamic .infoscava plugin files, enabling custom analysis outputs and additional tab integration.
- Plugin management features, including load, reload, delete, and history tracking.
- Integration with the right-click context menu for quick access.
Note on Settings Menu
A settings menu is available in the new version, although it is not yet documented. It is advised not to modify its values, as they are preconfigured for performance optimization.
