From BCA Student to Content Creator: How I Made My First Tech Reel in One Day

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey, I'm Munish โ€” But You Can Call Me Mishu

I'm a BCA student, self-taught web developer, and AI/ML enthusiast. My mission? Learn in public, build real projects, and share every step of the journey to help others do the same.

Recently, I decided to go all in on content creation and document my learning process. This blog is a breakdown of how I made and launched my first ever Instagram Reel and YouTube Short, from script to post.

๐ŸŽฌ The Idea: Why Even Make a Reel?

Iโ€™ve been learning full-stack web dev + AI/ML. But I realized something: building alone is good... but building in public? Powerful.

I wanted to:

Introduce myself as a creator

Share what Iโ€™m learning

Build a personal brand

The goal was simple: a 30-60 second intro reel that tells people who I am and why they should follow me.

๐Ÿ“ Scripting It Out: Hook First, Hype Second

Hereโ€™s the first raw script I wrote:

"Hi my name is Munish, my language is coding. I am a BCA student. BCA sunn ke video skip mtt karna pura sunn lo. I define myself as a web dev + AI/ML learner or a self-taught coder who is building in public. You can explore my bio for more info. Let's build together. Follow for real coding content."

With a few tweaks, here's the final script I used:

"Hey, Iโ€™m Mishu โ€” a BCA student and a self-taught web dev + AI/ML learner. I speak in code. Iโ€™m building in public, sharing what I learn, and growing with every project. Wanna build with me? Letโ€™s grow together. Follow for raw, real coding content."

Language dilemma? Yes, I was stuck between Hindi & English. I chose a mix โ€” Hinglish โ€” to connect with Indian audiences while still leveling up my English skills.

๐Ÿ“ธ Recording the Video

I shot my video using my mobile phone in vertical (9:16) format โ€” perfect for Reels and Shorts.

Tools used:

Camera: Phone (rear cam)

Audio: External mic for clarity

Script: Memorized and improvised to stay natural

โœ‚๏ธ Editing in Wondershare Filmora 14

This was where the magic happened. I:

Trimmed the best takes

Added lofi BGM (motivational chill)

Inserted dynamic subtitles (white + yellow keywords)

Added a call-to-action text overlay at the end:

"Letโ€™s build together. Follow for real coding content."

Pro tip: Keep music volume at 20โ€“25% so your voice shines.

๐Ÿ“ค Uploading to Instagram & YouTube

๐Ÿ”น Instagram Reels (upload via mobile):

Posted via IG app for algorithm boost

Used hashtags: #coding #webdev #buildinpublic #bca #techreels

Added cover thumbnail from the video itself

๐Ÿ”น YouTube Shorts (uploaded via mobile):

Title: Meet Mishu: A BCA Student Building Real Tech ๐Ÿ’ป #Shorts

Description: Summarized my story + added tags

Uploaded in 1080x1920 (vertical) format

๐Ÿ” What I Learned

Hook is everything โ€” First 3 seconds determine whether people scroll or stay

Subtitles make a HUGE difference

Upload from mobile for platform-native boosts

Building in public gives you massive clarity + accountability

๐Ÿ”ฎ Whatโ€™s Next?

This is just the start. My next content pieces:

Day in the life of a dev learner

Building mini projects live

Documenting my AI learning journey

๐Ÿš€ Final Thoughts

You donโ€™t need a perfect setup to start. You just need the will to build, the courage to share, and the consistency to keep going.

If youโ€™re learning to code, creating content, or just figuring out your path โ€” Iโ€™d love to connect.
