I recently built something I’m really excited about: AppleAI, a native macOS app that makes using AI fast, simple, and distraction‑free.
For a long time, I was switching between browser tabs and apps just to use different AI tools. It slowed me down and broke my focus. I wanted something smoother that felt like it actually belonged on my Mac. That’s how AppleAI started.
What AppleAI Does
With AppleAI, you can open a chat window instantly from anywhere using a shortcut. You don’t have to dig through tabs or apps. It stays ready whenever you need it.
You can talk to different AI models in one place — ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and more — and even switch between them mid‑conversation. Your history is saved locally, so you can come back to any chat later.
The design is clean and fits right in with macOS. You can pin the chat window on top of your other apps, resize it, and keep working without losing focus.
Why It’s Different
AppleAI isn’t a browser wrapper or a heavy app. It’s built in Swift and SwiftUI, so it runs fast and uses very little battery. Everything is stored on your Mac by default, which means your chats stay private.
And just to clear up confusion: it’s not made by Apple and it’s not part of Apple Intelligence. This is an independent project built for people who want a smoother AI experience on Mac.
